WhatPulse 2.1b2
Hi,

You can now download WhatPulse 2.1 beta 2 from here:

- Windows: http://files.whatpulse.org/beta/whatpulse-win-2.1b2.exe
- OSX: http://files.whatpulse.org/beta/whatpulse-mac-2.1b2.dmg
- Linux 32bit: http://files.whatpulse.org/beta/whatpuls...1b2.tar.gz
- Linux 64bit: http://files.whatpulse.org/beta/whatpuls...1b2.tar.gz

There were a few small changes, which are listed below. The major changes are on database and threading level and I have good hopes that this one will solve some more issues where the client can crash.

2.1b2
- Windows: Update to WinPcap 4.1.3 for Windows 8 support.
- Windows: XP is now better supported for network & input per application stats.
- Windows: Lose some major weight (app&dll sizes) by compressing the client files.
- Input: Add a time period selector for per application stats.
- Network: The GeoIP database (per country stats) is now updated every 6 weeks.
- Network: Add a time period selector for per country stats.
- Generate a file called app.log in the %LOCALAPPDATA% directory for debugging.

2.1b1
- You can now see your keys/clicks on a per application basis.
- The login procedure has been simplified to be a breeze. You can add computers from the wizard and it auto detects your computer name.
- Revamped database control; this means the database is more stable, secure and doesn't interfere with your input. (freezing)
- Network monitoring performance has been improved.
- There is now a client updater included, which will notify you when a new version is released and will show the changes made. On OSX and Windows, it can automatically update the client.
- On Linux, the client will check whether it has the proper permissions for network monitoring and ask you whether it should correct those permissions.
- On Windows, there is a new option to run the client as administrator. This will allow the client to catch keys/clicks in applications that are also running as administrator. (enable this option when not all keys/clicks are counted)
- Many, many, many, many small tweaks and fixes.

RE: WhatPulse 2.1b2
In this beta the icon gone/app closed behaviour is back. In 2.0.4 it was running ok on Win 8 x64 without any problems.

RE: WhatPulse 2.1b2
If you can't find it in your hidden tray icon section, just try it again - 2.1 will bring up the running client if there is one running already.

RE: WhatPulse 2.1b2
Unfortunately the crash on startup bug is back with 2.1b2, at least on Windows XP:

Code:
Unhandled exception at 0x0042f343 in whatpulse.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0x00000028.

Code:
25-03-2013 10:33:44.453 DEBUG WhatPulse has started
25-03-2013 10:33:50.265  WARN QWaitCondition: Destroyed while threads are still waiting

2.1b2 will only start if I delete whatpulse.db & whatpulse.db.backup, and then of course I have to login again.

So whatever you did to fix that, please do it again! Big Grin

RE: WhatPulse 2.1b2
I did absolutely nothing to fix that before, how about that? ;-)

Looks like it takes 5 seconds to even try to open the database and that eventually takes too long..you don't have a sqlite3.dll inside the program files dir, right? (the qsqlite4.dll is okay)

RE: WhatPulse 2.1b2
2.1b2 seems to be more stable than any other version, probably because of the updated WinPcap. Thanks, Martijn! ^_^

Nope. I've tried uninstalling completely so nothing like that is hanging around. It does take about 5-10 seconds to crash. 2.1b1 also doesn't appear in the tray until about 15 seconds after starting.

I'll try it with Win7 at home tonight and see if it behaves in the same way.

RE: WhatPulse 2.1b2
Sorry man, but this is the worst client so far on Windows 8 64 bit. It crashes instantly on a clean install of both a desktop and laptop Sad

RE: WhatPulse 2.1b2
Strangely 2.1b2 crashed on Windows 7 (with the usual error) about 15s after the first time I started it, but after starting again it's been fine so far! I just installed it over 2.1b1 with the databases still in place. I'll see how long it lasts.

2.1b1 & b2 both open almost instantly on my fairly new Win7 PC at home.
